Safety Tip: Bicycle Safety
It’s National Bike Month, and UMB has a lot of great resources to keep yourself and your bicycle safe.
  • Bike racks are located throughout campus. When you lock your bike, remember to secure both wheels and the frame of the bike to the rack. Use a strong lock that cannot be easily broken and remember to make sure it’s locked before walking away!
  • A bike cage and bike room are available through Parking and Transportation Services in the Pratt Street Garage and Baltimore Grand Garage, respectively.
  • Have a flat? The Bike Fix-it Station has all the tools needed to perform basic bike repairs, from changing a flat to adjusting brakes and derailleurs.
  • Bicycles are a sustainable way to get to work. The Office of Sustainability has a UMB Bike Commuters Teams site, where you can discuss bike routes, find a commute buddy, and more!
  • Remember to wear a helmet when you get on your bike. Learn more about bike helmet safety and how to ensure that your helmet fits appropriately.

New or Departing Lab?
We know that moving can be stressful. Whether you are vacating a space or just arriving to UMB, often researchers have a lot of questions about what Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requires of them. To help relieve some of that stress, EHS has designed a webpage to answer those questions and make sure your lab is safe and compliant!
